Club & Resort Business Features Wycliffe Golf & Country Club Director of Golf Maintenance Shannon Wheeler

Wycliffe Golf & Country Club, a premiere residential private golf community, is pleased to announce Golf Course Maintenance Director, Shannon Wheeler, was recently featured in the December issue of Club & Resort Business, a highly respected media publication that talks about many facets of the private club industry.

In December 2014, Wycliffe Golf & Country Club was very fortunate to have hired Shannon Wheeler as the new Golf Course Maintenance Director. After working in the golf industry for over 25 years, Shannon has risen to the top of the corporate ladder. He decided to pursue a degree from North Carolina State University, majoring in Turfgrass Management and at the same time, working at Carolina Country Club as their Irrigation Technician under the direction of Bob Rogers, who praised Shannon for his dedication to learning his job and to grow in the turf industry. Besides learning about turf management and maintenance, he also took this opportunity to finish up his business degree. “Looking back, it was a good decision to finish. The job today is so much more than managing turf. The business degree has been very helpful,” says Wheeler.

In early 2015, Shannon proudly accepted the role of President of the Palm Beach Golf Course Superintendent Association. The organization represents superintendents in the region, offers continuing education in the field and significantly contributes to charitable organizations within Palm Beach County.

“Being featured in Club & Resort Business is an honor for both Shannon and Wycliffe. We are very proud of him and the work he does for our Club and our members. This is certainly a wonderful stepping stone in his career,” said Darrell Wilde, General Manager/COO of Wycliffe.
