ICON Management Announces Opening of New Golf Course ”Piper” at Lakewood National Golf Club

Lakewood National Golf Club held the Grand Opening of the new Piper Course. Piper is the second championship course in the Lakewood National property area, completing the 36-holes designed by golf icon, Arnold Palmer. Piper accompanies Lakewood National’s original 18 holes, the Commander Course.

The Piper Grand Opening event included a Course Record Holder Day open exclusively to members. The celebration continued the following day where the course opened to Lakewood National members and their guests, as they were invited to be the first to experience the beauty of the new course.

The Piper course is of professional quality and showcases the Arnold Palmer design trademark features of short par fours with rolling fairways and narrow approaches to smaller greens. The golf course is grassed with the same varieties as the first 18; TifEagle greens, TifGrand collars, Celebration Bermuda tees, fairways, and roughs.

Piper provides smaller greens with less movement compared to the Commander course, but with more bunkers guarding the greens for more shot-making demand. The fairways are still equally generous and the bunkers don’t appear to be as penal to advance.

Head Golf Course Superintendent, Jamie McCrosky, believes, “the two courses will complement each other well and give all players in the community a fair and enjoyable experience.”
