Jacobsen Launches MH5 Tractor-Mounted Hydraulic Mower (August 18, 2014)

Jacobsen, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced the launch of the MH5™ five-reel tractor-mounted hydraulic mower. Offering the ultimate in productivity and versatility, the new MH5 provides a reel-quality cut and excellent ground following on a variety of turf areas including golf roughs, surrounds, fairways, driving ranges, sports fields, parks and roadsides.

In addition to mowing versatility, the MH5 has the power and flexibility to easily handle verticutting and scalping before overseeding. The mower is an excellent Tier 4 Final alternative, offering tremendous value with a 135” width-of-cut at an MSRP of less than $30,000.

The five-reel setup features 6 or 8-blade 7.8” diameter reels. The MH5’s height-of-cut ranges from .31” to 1.93”, giving it the ability to mow a wide range of turf areas.

“The new MH5 is a modern version of the ground-driven gang mowers of the past,” said Bryan Holby, Product Manager for Jacobsen. “Most notably its hydraulic power extends its versatility far beyond the ability to mow. It can also easily handle verticutting and the fall-scalp down before overseeding. And with a width-of-cut of 135”, the MH5 is an extremely productive machine that can do the work of several mowers.”

The MH5 easily mounts to a three-point hitch and the reel drive operates in forward or reverse for backlapping. The two outer reels fold up using tractor hydraulics for transport. This gives the MH5 the ability to mow with three, four or all five reels.

“The MH5 is another example of how Jacobsen is reacting to the market by providing a product that offers tremendous value,” said David Withers, President of Jacobsen. “There’s simply nothing else on the market that can mow, verticut and scalp-down at a width-of-cut of 135” for less than $30,000.”

The MH5 five-reel tractor-mounted hydraulic mower will be available in late August, 2014.
