April 6, 2015 – PBI-Gordon and Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK) of Osaka, Japan, recently announced an agreement to distribute Kabuto Fungicide SC in the United States’ professional turf management industry upon approval of its pending registration with the United States EPA.
A liquid formulation of the active ingredient isofetamid, Kabuto has proven in research trials to provide preventative and curative dollar spot control.
“We’re excited about adding Kabuto to our fungicide lineup,” said Tom Hoffman, senior vice president and general manager for PBI-Gordon. “With Kabuto and Segway fungicides, the Gordon’s Professional turf portfolio gives golf course supervisors and lawn care professionals two proven performers for fungicide control.”
Caused by the fungus Sclerotinia homoeocarpa, dollar spot is one of the most common and expensive turfgrass diseases in North America.
The active ingredient, isofetamid, in Kabuto will help ease the economic impact of dollar spot by managing resistance concerns.
“In the U.S., we spend more money controlling dollar spot than any other turf disease,” said Jim Goodrich, product manager for fungicides, insecticides and plant growth regulators at PBI-Gordon. “We’re confident Kabuto will become an important tool in the fight against this costly pathogen.”
PBI-Gordon currently markets ISK products, Segway Fungicide SC and Katana Turf Herbicide.
