How does one course separate itself from the others in the area, and guarantee years of success? Yes it is a benefit to have a great course layout, terrific turf, and a clubhouse with terrific food, but what members and guests notice first is the landscaping done by the grounds crew. The beautiful majestic views seen from the parking lot, looking out from the clubhouse windows or patio, and while eating or playing a round are constantly seen and consciously or subconsciously noticed by guests.

Beautiful landscaping takes time, and time means money. So how does a course have beautiful grounds, while keeping costs down? It is simple. They use an earth auger from Power Planter. As one recent customer said, “Normally I would spend 2-3 days just digging holes for a normal job, and with a Power Planter I completed all the holes in 2 hours.”

Power Planters can be used for countless other uses around a course as well. They are excellent for boring under sidewalks for drainage or new irrigation lines; mixing seed, fertilizer, potting soil; mixing small batches of mortar or concrete to patch hardscaping; installing new signage around the facilities; aerating and deep root fertilizing trees and shrubs so they get nutrients immediately. The list goes on and on.

Power Planter is a three-generation family business with its roots in rural Illinois. The idea for the patented Power Planter originated when a local university’s groundskeeper asked Wayne Niewold to create a more efficient way to plant trees, shrubs and flowers to maintain the grounds. With that, the idea of the Power Planter was born and since 1988 has helped colleges, businesses, golf courses, and homeowners save time and money by increasing the speed of planting and decreasing death loss from improper depth and hole size, while increasing efficiency of plantings dramatically compared to a shovel or garden spade.

The Power Planter business has grown over the past 20-plus years to provide dozens of products and has benefitted from the craftsmanship, professionalism and customer service provided by three generations of the Niewold family. Our augers range from 2” diameter for planting 6-pack annuals and grass plugs, or deep root fertilizing trees up to 12” diameter for planting 5-gallon potted shrubs or trees. Power Planter auger lengths range from 7”- 48”. In addition, being a small family owned company we do our best to accommodate special orders or requests. Our augers will fit a wide array of cordless, corded, or gas powered post hole drivers/drills. For questions regarding if an auger will fit a particular make and model please call or contact us via our website.

Today, Power Planter is owned and operated by Wayne’s grandson, Greg Niewold, who has quickly helped to expand the reach of the business: now serving customers across the U.S. and Canada and customizing new products to expand the scope of Power Planter’s use.

And while the years have changed, the core principles the company was founded on remain intact. We’re a family of farm business owners, so we appreciate the value of a dollar and assure that when you buy from Power Planter, you’ll receive:
100% Made In The USA

Above all, the quality our customers most appreciate is the commitment to putting their needs first.
