SOLitude’s Heart & SOL Award Honors Top Volunteer of 2018

Following another successful year of volunteering and community outreach efforts through The SOLution program, SOLitude Lake Management awarded the company’s annual Heart & SOL award to Regional Administrator Becky Snyder for her never-ending dedication to supporting charitable initiatives in her local community of Shrewsbury, MA, and leading the company’s community outreach efforts throughout the country.

The Heart & SOL award recognizes one individual within the company each year who goes above and beyond in personal volunteering, inspiring others, and displaying a true commitment and passion for making the world a better place. Becky was awarded this month during SOLitude’s annual “SOL Summit” culture and team-building conference in Virginia Beach, VA.

In 2018, Becky logged a total of 117.5 volunteering hours and participated in an array of volunteering events. She followed her passion for empowering young girls through the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, an organization that first sparked her interest in volunteering when she became involved as a child. Throughout the year, she served as a mentor during clean-ups, Thanksgiving donation runs and community outings, and was integral in the behind-the-scenes planning for group activities, open houses, and impactful programs like Rainbow University. Becky further demonstrated the mission of The SOLution program by cooking meals for a family in need of assistance, serving as a volunteer at veterans’ events, and contributing her time to a variety of local charitable efforts throughout the holidays.

Becky also served as the SOLitude Volunteer Team Captain for her region, a role through which she coordinated and led team volunteering events with the Worcester Co. Food Bank, trash clean-ups at the Blackstone River and Lake Street Park, and toiletry drives for the less-fortunate. Furthermore, in addition to her personal and Team Captain volunteering efforts, Becky played a pivotal role as the Outreach Coordinator for The SOLution program for the second half of 2018. Becky’s excellent time management, unparalleled organization skills, and commitment to community and environmental stewardship helped ensure each member of The SOLution team was informed about upcoming volunteer events and motivated to serve in their local communities.

SOLitude tracks team volunteering hours using a points system. Based on the number of volunteering points earned each year, staff are rewarded with gift cards of their choosing. Or, if team members decide to allocate their points towards a donation to a non-profit organization, SOLitude will match the contribution. This year, Becky chose to donate $586, half of her accrued reward, to the Oxford Assembly, which supports the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. SOLitude’s company match brought the donation total to $1,172.

“Becky truly went above and beyond in 2018, and we are honored to call her a member of our team,” said Tracy Fleming, Director of Marketing & Communications. “She consistently exemplifies the mission of The SOLution, and makes a positive impact on everyone she encounters. There is not a more deserving recipient for this award.”

Other top volunteers recognized for quarterly awards in 2018 were Florida Regional Manager Alberto Florez (Q1 and Q4), Massachusetts Aquatic Biologist Brea Arvidson (Q2), and Virginia Regional Administrator Regina Brimmer (Q3).

The SOLution is a company-wide program that encourages the company and all employees to strive to “create a better world” through volunteerism, community outreach, sustainability and environmental consciousness. Since the program began in 2012, SOLitude has donated more than $355,000 in goods and in-kind services and contributed over 13,000 volunteer hours to our local communities across the country.
