Syngenta Golf’s “The Green Report” Highlights Arizona’s Sustainable Approach to Water and Golf

Rob Collins, Director of Greens and Grounds at Paradise Valley Country Club

Syngenta Golf’s acclaimed sustainability docuseries, The Green Report, has released a new three-part episode spotlighting Arizona’s innovative approach to water management on desert golf courses.

When faced with strict new water restrictions and negative media coverage, golf course leaders across Arizona joined forces through the Arizona Alliance for Golf to change the narrative—demonstrating how golf supports not just recreation, but also local economies, employment, and the environment.

In the new installment, The Green Report visits Paradise Valley Country Club and Troon North Golf Club, where superintendents, naturalists, and advocates share data and stories underscoring that:

  • Golf uses only 2% of Arizona’s total water supply.
  • The industry contributes $6 billion in economic impact and supports 66,000 jobs statewide.
  • Desert courses, often located near urban edges, play a key role in promoting biodiversity for native plants and wildlife.

Interviewees include course owner Gregg Tryhus, Katie Prendergast of the Arizona Alliance for Golf, and Bri Kenny, Manager of Environmental Science at Troon Golf, who takes viewers on a sunset tour of Troon North, spotting roadrunners and bobcats in their natural habitat.

The series opens at Paradise Valley Country Club with Director of Greens and Grounds Rob Collins, who discusses water-saving technologies and the importance of sharing best practices nationally.

“Arizona shows how golf can turn challenges into opportunities,” said Mark Birchmore, Global Head of Marketing, Turf & Landscape at Syngenta. “Courses here are proving that data-driven water management and sustainability can go hand in hand with creating green spaces that benefit both people and wildlife.”

The Arizona episode of The Green Report premieres Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 12 p.m. ET on Syngenta Golf’s YouTube Channel. The series is free for all golf industry professionals and stakeholders.
