TKI recalls ArmorTech ALT 70 and Viceroy 70DF fungicide formulation (Jun 18)

June 18, 2015 – TKI recalls ArmorTech ALT 70 and Viceroy 70DF fungicide formulationJUNE 17, 2015 4:00 AM
NovaSource, a business unit of Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc. (TKI), is voluntarily recalling all 2013 production batches of a turf fungicide formulation marketed under the brand names of ArmorTech ALT 70 by United Turf Alliance, LLC and Viceroy 70DF by UPI.

The manufacturer found evidence of contamination from the herbicide sulfometuron methyl in the turf fungicide formulation following laboratory investigation and testing.

The recall includes all 2013 production of the products with batch codes that begin with the number 6 (e.g., 6101701).

On June 5, 2015, United Turf Alliance, LLC voluntarily stopped sale of ALT 70 following reports of compromised turfgrass after the product was applied to bentgrass/Poa putting greens, collars and approaches. Similar incidents have been reported following the application of Viceroy 70DF using the affected batch codes.

“We apologize for the difficulties caused by this situation,” said David Cassidy, TKI group vice president. “We are working diligently to resolve the situation and are investigating turf management options for mitigating turf injury.”
TKI asks that ALT 70 and Viceroy 70DF users take the following steps immediately:

— Do not use or apply ALT 70 or Viceroy 70DF with batch numbers starting with the number 6 (e.g., 6101701).

— Return these products with batch codes beginning with the number 6 to the point of sale or to the product distributors for full credit, including reimbursement of costs associated with the return:
a. Alt 70 – United Turf Alliance, LLC
b. Viceroy 70DF – UPI

Information and updates will be shared on two websites: www.alt70info.com and www.viceroyturfinfo.com, which will be live on Thursday, June 18, 2015.
