Toro-Sponsored Radio Program Recognized by Key State Leaders in California

Since it began, The Water Zone radio show, sponsored by The Toro Company, has received a lot of attention as a first-of-its-kind talk radio program focused on water and its impact on our daily lives. The weekly program was launched in the wake of California’s statewide water restrictions in 2015, and has been providing listeners with tips and information on this vital resource.

In recognition, The Water Zone was recently commended with a California State Senate Resolution, which was presented to hosts Rob Starr and Mike Baron, by California State Senator Richard Roth. The Resolution recognizes the Show’s central role in educating the public about best practices and smart irrigation technologies to help utilize outdoor watering more efficiently amid the state’s record drought.

Additionally, The Water Zone was named as an IE H20 Hero Award Winner for Communications Program of the Year at the 10th annual San Bernardino Water Conference on August 12, 2016. Over the years, the San Bernardino Water Conference has become a premier forum for helping identify regional solutions to maintaining ample water supply for Inland Empire communities.
“It is such an honor to be recognized for our efforts,” said Toro’s Baron. “Water is such an important natural resource to all of us, and we saw a need to further communicate efforts surrounding water conservation and efficiency. Recognition and support from various entities has helped get the word out to even more businesses and homeowners.”

Toro is an industry leader in water management innovation, and its irrigation business is based in Southern California. “Water management is not only important to our business, but also an important part of our everyday lives,” says Dan Winterton, Toro Irrigation Business Marketing Director. “We know first-hand the consequences of a lack of water availability. That is why it has been so important that we support this ground breaking show.”

Notable Water Zone radio show guests have included Chair of the California State Water Resources Board, Felicia Marcus; California Secretary of Natural Resources, John Laird; Senior Advisor for the Office of Governor Jerry Brown, Wade Crowfoot; the Lead Engineer for the EPA WaterSense Program, Stephanie Tanner: as well as head administrators from major water agencies throughout the state. The radio program airs on NBC news radio station KCAA 1050 AM, 106.5 FM and on the web at www.KCAARadio.com every Thursday evening at 6 p.m.
