Troon Golf to manage courses at Kapalua Resort

Troon Golf, a leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing recently announce it has been selected to manage Kapalua Resort’s two championship golf courses and highly regarded golf academy beginning April 1, according to www.troongolf.com. The Bay Course and The Plantation Course are among Hawai‘i’s most revered golf destinations, playing host to the PGA Tour Hyundai Tournament of Champions each January, featuring an elite field of the previous year’s PGA Tour winners. At the state-of-the-art instructional facility, Kapalua Golf Academy, players can learn the basics or hone their skills with the largest teaching staff of PGA Professionals in Hawai‘i.

“Kapalua is an iconic golf destination,” said Dana Garmany, chairman and CEO of Troon Golf. “We are honored to have been selected to manage these exceptional golf courses and are confident that our management practices will contribute positively to the overall experience at Kapalua Resort.”

“Combining superior course architecture with impeccable playing conditions and customer service, makes these two courses unique among even the finest golf destinations,” Tadashi Yanai, president, TY Management Corporation.

According to a recent Pacific Business News article, Troon Golf intends to retain current Maui Land & Pineapple Co. employees who run the two Kapalua courses.

“In the coming weeks, we will be meeting with golf employees at Kapalua Golf Resort to explain the employment process going forward, and it is our intention to transition qualified golf associates to our employment platform,” said Mike Ryan, senior vice president of operations at Troon Golf, in a statement. “We recognize the rich tradition that has been developed at Kapalua over the years, and it’s our goal to continue to provide this same high quality experience for all of the guests and employees.”
