Sarah Spatola, Director of Marketing at Ecologel Solutions LLC., a premier developer and manufacturer of innovative products for water conservation, was installed as the new President of the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA). She was elected FNGLA’s Secretary/Treasurer for 2019-2020 and has been serving as FNGLA’s President-elect for the past year. She will now proudly assume the position of FNGLA President for the 2021-2022 term, which begins July 1. The installations of new officers took place on June 12, during FNGLA’s Annual Convention, its first in-person event in over a year.
Founded in 1952, FNGLA is the nation’s largest state nursery and landscape association with over 1600 member businesses. Florida’s environmental horticulture industry generated $25.4 billion in total output sales and directly employed 242,000 people in 2018. FNGLA is driven by a 25-member Board of Directors comprised of member-elected representatives from 14 active Chapters, 7 Divisions, and 4 statewide elected officers. FNGLA provides powerful advocacy and works to better the industry by spearheading marketing programs, delivering promotional and educational venues, and communicating the latest industry issues.
Spatola graduated with a BS in Marketing from the University of Central Florida. She joined her family’s business, Ecologel, in 2009, and has played a key role in the company’s sales and marketing programs. Ecologel has been a member of FNGLA since 2008.
Spatola has served as the Allied Division’s representative to the FNGLA Board of Directors. She is a member of the FNGLA Landscape Irrigation Committee where she readily shares her expertise on water conservation, as well as the Membership and Marketing Committee, utilizing her background in marketing to support the committee’s initiatives. Spatola has also served multiple terms on the FNGLA Budget Committee. She is a Class X alumna of the University of Florida/IFAS Wedgworth Leadership Institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources, which develops and refines the leadership capabilities of Florida agriculture and natural resource professionals.
